Wiki is strong as a reading environment when it is free of visual clutter. The Bazaar of ideas is beautiful in the mind, but there is another beauty for the eye in the Cathedral.
We seek not to clutter the visual environment for the reader (and writer) through using two many visual icons, menus, tools and coloured backgrounds.
# Avatars
Vanity avatars, however useful for simple interfaces (such as chat), rapidly use their value when we have complex layouts with scores of different authors. The text should be what stands out, not the personalities.
